He didn't dare move a muscle.

As soon as goodnights had been exchanged and lights were switched off, it's breathing had become audible. He could hear it rasping and rustling about. With only a coil spring mattress to separate them.

His gaze drifted over to the nightlight's dim glow. It began to flicker and he could feel his muscles tense. It had noticed as well. He could hear it's breathing quicken.

He eyed the light apprehensively, watching the light slowly but surely lose power.

The only thing besides the mattress that separated them was dying right before his eyes. He could hear his heart pounding in his ears.

Flicker.

Flicker.

Off.

Whatever soft glow that the nightlight once emitted was gone. Nothing but darkness filled the bedroom.

He listened carefully, the once heavy breathes seemed to have vanished with the light.

He had to move. He had to take the chance while he still had time.

His lurched forward and a shriek pierced through the room. He quickly dove for cover.

The door slammed open, parents rushing in.

Words were exchanged.

Nightlight replaced.

The dim glow filled the room once more.

That was fine.

He could wait.

I literally had this idea and wrote it within fifteen minutes. Then proceeded to write with absolutely no sleep. Submitting it anyway.

Ta Da!

This is pretty good for only 15 minutes work. Do you plan on adding more to it?
